Die Australische Handelskommission (Austrade) unterstützt australische Unternehmen und Forschungsinstitute bei der Vermarktung umweltfreundlicher Technologien. Erneuerbare Energien stehen im Fokus der australischen Regierung. So will Australien seinen CO2- Ausstoß bis 2050 um 60 Prozent reduzieren. Bis 2020 sollen 20 Prozent des nationalen Energieverbrauchs durch erneuerbare Energien abgedeckt werden.

Als erster Staat der Welt hat Australien mit dem „Offshore Petroleum Amendment Bill“ außerdem die rechtliche Grundlage für die Abscheidung und Speicherung von CO2 geschaffen.

Solar Flagships Program to Re-open Shortlist
07.02.2012 | In order to provide the best opportunity for the successful construction of a large-scale, solar photovoltaic (PV) power station in Australia, the Australian Government will seek updated applications from the four shortlisted Round 1 Solar Flagship photovoltaic (PV) applicants, including from Moree Solar Farm after it, as the preferred Round 1 PV applicant, proposed major changes to its project. The Moree Solar Farm consortium was given until 15 December 2011 to meet financial close as a condition of the $306.5 million grant on offer from the Australian Government as part of the Solar Flagships Program.
